Developing civic behaviour for the democratic
contemporary society trough activities and
participatory projects




This workshop is going to explore teaching strategies, learning activities and projects that help developing civic behavior and attitudes for the future citizens of an authentic democratic society. The participants are going to share their experiences in the area of training students of all levels and citizens. The goal of the workshop is to create awareness for new teaching strategies for participatory citizenship in accordance to democratic values, to create a network of good practice and to create opportunities of project partnerships.

Darius Borovic, PhD, lecturer at the West University of Timișoara, is an expert in citizenship education promoting out of the box activities, non-formal education and participatory projects. He has lectures on teaching social studies, intercultural education and pedagogy and also supervises the practical training of future civic education and social studies teachers. He has a major involvement in nation-wide and international citizenship education programs, projects and research and is also curriculum author. Some of his major writings are The Relationship between the Formal and the Non-Formal Curriculum: The Community Development Project in Civic Education (2012) and Citizenship Education in Romania – Premises for a Change (2009).
